In 2024 we signed an agreement with Volkswagen Mobility Solutions Rwanda (VWMSR) to launch Rwanda’s first Empowerment Hub, a solar-powered platform designed to revolutionise agriculture and energy access, helping advance Rwanda’s Vision 2050 of transforming the economy into a high-income nation by 2050.
This project, driven by VWMSR on behalf of Volkswagen Group Africa, was initiated by Volkswagen Group Innovation in Germany. The aim was to develop an e-Hub project that addressed the potential of renewable energy to provide a sustainable solution for agriculture, helping to shape mobility in Africa for generations to come.
ARC Power has installed 100kW of grid-tied solar power generation to provide direct power to the e-Hub for mechanising agricultural process and maximising outputs. The e-Hub includes 5 electric tractors which can be rented on an hourly basis to plough/ harvest land, cold storage, electric milling and aggregation of farmers’ produce to sell to larger wholesalers at scale.
